现在大概是director打电话做个初步了解，但他/她一个人也决定不了shortlist和录取的，所以过两天committee会开会讨论shortlist的名单，然后再正式面试，再决定offer
不用紧张，一步步来吧

I agree. Normally the program coordinator does not contact an applicant before the faculty meeting to review applications. Thus, the second scenario is more likely, that is, some information in the application is found to be unusual or problematic. Hope I am wrong.

谢谢你的分析啊，可是这个director说的是facutly meeting 来“finalize” 啊，所以我个人的感觉是已经meet过了，然后现在大家分头来联系几个人，然后再meet确定最后的名单？
