With more and more opportunity for people to study or work abroad , customs ,different from country to country, become a unavoidable problem that one must be care about.And whether to follow the local customs or not involves a conflict between the convenience of living abroad and the diversity of cultures. Keep one`s own customs is a common way of dealing the problem , but is it a wise one ? Others may regard that follow the native customs would be better. With all aspects considered , I would prefer to follow customs of the new country .And my view will be greatly confirmed by the following discussion. 

  Part of the explanation is that it is easier to establish cross-cultural communication when one choose to follow the new customs. Suppose that a student who start a graduate programme in another country. His/her study, transposition, even social affairs and other aspects of life are hardened because of the totally different environment brought by the foreign customs. However, s/he would have little of those problems and would find the life is more easier if s/he follows the native customs and has a better cross-cultural communication.

  The efficiency of communication is the foreigner`s major concern ,while for the native people,What they care most is whether they can accept you.

  To be better accepted by local people is another crucial reason for my point. There is once a survey conducted by a social scientist reveals that foreigners who adopt the local customs is fifteen times more likely to be accepted than those who do not.,which meas people tend to make friends with a person with more similiar customs. Accepted by local people not only makes your life easier but also makes you more friends.therefore, it is obvious that to follow the local customs would be a better choice. 

  Admittedly, it is important for a person to remember his race and keep one`s own customs would contribute to the diversity of local cultures, however, it is much more practical for common people to live happily and convenient when they stay abroad alone. I therefore reinforce my standpoints to choose adopt foreign customs as my final choice due to the above-mentioned reasons that following local customs makes cross-cultural communication and acceptence from local people easier.
