When we study in school or university, roommate is a person who stays with us for a long time. Except having lessons, we spend most of our spare time in the dormitory. There're some of important qualities of a good roommate. Everyone has his/her own view on this because of respective backgrounds and personal experiences. However, in my point of view, I tend to pay more attention to the qualities such as understanding, hard-working and helpful.

In daily life, it's inevitable to happen some unintentional things. For instance, your cup dropped on the ground and suddenly a big noise was made when your roommate is sleeping. An understanding roommate will not make a big fuss about your careless behavior although he/she is awake by it, he/she can recognize it just as an accident and forgive it as a little mistake everyone may make. Because of his/her toleration, you can get along with him/her easily and happily.

In addition, environment plays an important role in development of a person. To some degree, a hard-working roommate sets a good example to you. When you play computer games or waste your time, you may feel ashamed if you see your roommate studying diligently.

Last but not the least quality I will talk about is helpful. An enthusiastic roommate will volunteer to do your a favor when you are in times of crisis. He/she will lend you his/her note in class when you're absence for ill. If you have sorrow mood, he/she is a good auditor who listens to you patiently and offers available suggestions.

In conclusion, a good roommate who is understanding, hard-working and helpful is an invaluable asset in your campus life. He/she will be a person not only a friend but also like a family member especially your school is far away from your hometown. (304)
