some people believe that government officials must carry out the will of the people they serve. Others believe that officials should base their decisions on their own judgment. Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented. While it is conducive for government officials to make their decisions based on their own judgment, the voice and the will of the people they serve is indispensable and cannot be neglected otherwise it may cause detrimental consequences. Admittedly, making decision on their own judgment for government officials is reasonable and reliable since they are usually the outstanding individuals in the society and are more capable and have more intelligence to make the better choice. Take Roosevelt for an instance, who served as the president of the United State during the economic recession when the world economy was about to collapse and the recession was going to reach the United States. At that time, many American people were flustered and didn’t know what to do. It was Roosevelt’s new policy that helped the United States make through the great recession while many other countries’ economy got really damaged, which also laid the foundation of the fast economic growth in the later period of the United States. From this case we can see that the main credit for saving the United States attributes to Roosevelt. The reason why a person can become a president is because that he receives better education and has more intelligence thus when making decisions, he is able to notice the problems, find out the and think our new ideas that normal people are not capable of. Therefore, leaving the decisions to governmental official’s judgment is a wise choice. However, at the same time, there are possible drawbacks for officials to make decisions on their own while ignoring them would lead to unwanted ends. On the one hand, corruption happens. Since everybody think for their own goods, no one can exclude the probability for government officials to make decisions for their own profits. Shuibian Chen, the former leader of Taiwan, is now in jail because of embezzlement during his term. Ont the other hand, even though governmental officials are making decisions for public goods all the time, mistakes are unavoidable. Nikita Khrushchev, the former president of the Soviet Union, made some policies originally for the purpose to promote the development of the Soviet Union but these policies turned out to result in the disintegration of the Soviet Union. Furthermore, it is very valuable for us to see people’s will and voice. If people’s will and voice are taken into consideration, it can paly an important role in prohibiting governmental officials from corruption since people serve as supervision power. Moreover, because most decisions to be made by government are closely related to the general pulic, people have the right to express their will and be part of the decision making. In addition, different individuals have different position and different viewpoints thus can make their unique contribution to decisions, which at the same time is helpful for government officials to see those aspects of things that they don’t anticipated thus to avoid mistakes. To sum up, since governmental officials are usually more outstanding and more intelligent individuals in society, their judgment on decision making should be greatly valued. But if leave all the decisions to be made on governmental officials’ own, detrimental results, including corruption and undesirable mistakes, can be caused. However if people’s will are taken into consideration at the same time, not only that corruption and mistakes can be inhibited, but the final decision can benefits from different perspectives.
