Hi there! This is a great question, so thank you for bringing it up here. I am sure there are many other applicants who have wondered about connecting with interviewer on Social Media... and since Social Media is such a huge part of our lives, this is something that will continue to come up more and more. And the truth is, this is a very large gray area.
To be safe, I'd recommend letting your interviewer initiate any contact. Let THAT person take the lead. I say that because you don't want to bother that person, or, worse, say or do anything that could negatively impact your candidacy. If he/she reaches out, then go ahead and respond. But I would not recommend making the first move. Also, you have to remember that anything you post publicly on there will be seen by this person, and you never know how he or she will use that information, so I'd just be careful what you post until you get the final word from the school.
Once you hear back, at THAT point I think it is totally acceptable for you to reach out to the interviewer on We Chat and let them know what happened. But until you get that final word, you just want to be verrry careful. You just never know how any of that information/interaction could be used, and you've already made it so far... you don't want to let We Chat ruin anything! Hope that helps
Best,
