Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is better for children to choose jobs that are similar to their parents’ jobs than to choose jobs that are very different from their parents’ jobs.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Nowhere in history as now has the question been so widely discussed that whether it is better for children to choose jobs that are similar to their parents' jobs than to choose jobs that are very different from their parents' jobs. From my perspective, I insist young generations to choose jobs that are similar to their parents' jobs, and there are following reasons:
First of all, choosing jobs that are similar to parents' jobs is wise in terms of gene. According to scientific research, talent, which is determined by genes, varies from individuals to individuals. After generations of exploring, ancestors, including parents, have had found a field which their genes good at. As a result, choosing jobs that are similar to parents' jobs will make the best use of younger generations’ talent in gene, and make them easier to success.
What is more, choosing jobs that are similar to parents' jobs is wise in terms of information. Living in a century of information, there is no doubt that information is a deciding contributory factor in every work. As an children of your parents, you can get more about information from your parents than others, since you get to know it since childhood. Besides, your parents can also provide tons of information about their occupation, as well as giving you some advices for occupational plan.
Last but not the least, choosing jobs that are similar to parents' jobs is wise in terms of resources. After years of working in a field, parents are able to gain tons of resources, including human resources. Take China for example, in a society where credit system is not complete and information is not in an equal situation, the only way for people to make a relatively wise decision is to make deal with people with whom they have already familiar. While young people know few people at the beginning in working field, the credit on theirs parents can be passed on to them, compensating the credit disadvantages.
Admittedly, choosing jobs that are very different from their parents' jobs seems to explore children's full potential, but only by stand on a huge man's shoulder, that is to take the full advantages of their parents’ resources, can make the best of one's potential.
