top 10 schools in the US

Just found out these two posts at Business week forum, and i thought they give us a good idear who are real top ten schools in the US.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I "checked the facts" for you, here they are.  If we average all the rankings available (w/ the new WSJ), Michigan is #10.  If we average BW, USN and FT only, Michigan is #14.  In the 6 rankings out there (BW, Economist, FT, Forbes, USN, WSJ), Michigan's rankings are #8, #8, #20, #20, #10, and #1, respectively).  See below for the top 10 using the 2 different averages.  All I'm doing is presenting the current rankings data - if this pisses you off for some reason, you might want to ask yourself why.

Average of all Rankings:
1. Wharton
2. Harvard
3. Chicago
4. Stanford
5. Columbia
6. Kellogg
7. Tuck
8. Sloan
9. Yale
10. Michigan

Average of BW, FT and USN:
1. Harvard
2. Wharton
3. Stanford
4. Chicago
5. Kellogg
6. Columbia
7. Sloan
8. Tuck
9. Duke
10. NYU

The Forbes ranking is a "value" ranking that has a lot of lower tuition state schools more highly ranked, and I don't think people pay attention to that.  I not familiar with the Financial Times or Economist rankings, which are probably far more important outside the U.S.  I think Business Week and U.S. News are most watched, but it seems to me the Wall Street Journal is getting a lot more attention now than it used to.  It is the WSJ after all.  Here are ranking averages I think Americans at least pay more attention t

BW & USNews average:

1. Harvard 2. Stanford 3. Kellogg 4. Chicago 5. Wharton 6. MIT 7. Columbia 8. Michigan 9. Tuck 10. Duke

BW, U.S.News and WSJ:

1. Wharton 2. Chicago 2. Kellogg 4. Stanford 5. Harvard 6. Michigan 6. MIT 8. Columbia 9. Tuck 10. Duke

They are all the same schools either way in the top ten.  (And yes, I think most everyone in the U.S. at least consider Michigan and Tuck to be solid top 10 schools).
