Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more important for the government to spend money on new buildings than to preserve historic or traditional buildings and homes.

On contemporary society, opinions are divided when it comes to whether government should spend more money on new buildings. People may think that new buildings can make cities modern so that they are indispensable. In my opinion, however, more money should be spent on historic or traditional buildings preservation without hesitation.

Firstly, the traditional buildings and homes in one place are supposed to embody the culture of that place. For instance, I traveled to Rome last summer and what I saw during the trip made me so surprised. The coliseum was protected as what it looked like thousands of years ago, which made me penetrated in the vintage atmosphere. Other relics are also prevented from being destroyed so that each one could be representative of the culture of Holy Roman Empire. AS a result, traditional buildings and homes, which play an important role in the culture of one place, should be carefully preserved with more money.

Besides, as I have mentioned above, the well-protected traditional buildings and homes can attract tourists throughout the world so as to facilitate the tourism industry and economy of that place. Obviously, with the development of technology, vehicles make people’s life so convenient that people can even go wherever they want and the tourism industry, simultaneously, becomes popular. The traditional buildings and homes will undoubtedly attract a number of tourists. The boom of tourism industry in one place is supposed to stimulate the economy in that place. It’s time for us spend more money to preserve the traditional buildings and homes thus to bring the sustainable development cycle in our cities.

Finally, the use of machine to construct the new buildings has detrimental effect on environment. Admittedly, the modern buildings seem to make cities charming. The adverse effect in constructing them can not be neglected. The green-house effect caused by exhaust fumes and carbon dioxide emission makes glacier melt leading to the rise of the sea level and even the inundation of some part of the continent, which is irreversible. What’s worse, we have not found any way to deal with it. Money spent on constructing new buildings even causes the environment problem, so it should be a common view that government should spent more money on preservation.

For these reasons, preservation of the culture in one place, facilitation of the economy and protection of the environment, it is easy to conclude that government should spend more money on preserving the traditional buildings and homes rather constructing modern buildings. Arduous efforts should be made to preserving the traditional buildings by each of us.

Workers should be happier if they are doing different types of tasks during their workdays than doing the same task.

In contemporary society, workers are supposed to be the foundation of the industrialization and, thus, it is universally acknowledged that workers are vital to the development of a society. Some people hold the opinion that workers will be happier if they constantly do the same type of task. From my point of view, however, workers will certainly be happier if they face various types of work everyday.

Firstly, keeping doing the same type of work for a period of time will lower workers' job satisfaction and stuff morale. For instance, as a student, studying is supposed to be my calling, so I tried to read books, research for statistics and write papers and kept myself doing the same whole thing for over a week. Diligent as I was, the result of my paper was not as excellent as I had expected. What was worse, I even found myself lose the enthusiasm to study. By analogy, it is conceived that if workers are kept constantly doing the same type of work, they will certainly be fed up with what they are doing and, consequently, be disgusted with their work.

Besides, workers' horizon cannot be broaden if they are always engaged in the same type of work. Undoubtedly, workers will perform better and be more satisfied with their jobs if they can achieve more during the process of work. However, as the proverb goes, what the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind of a man can achieve. By doing the same work, those workers will surely be limited to what they are doing. Changes will not take place until the pattern of working is altered. As a result, the same type of work post a great threat to workers' satisfaction with work.

Morever, various types of work can stimulate workers' imagination so that there would be more innovation. The same type of work has detrimental effect on workers' ability to innovate. In the contemporary society, innovation is so essential to an enterprise that it is directly related to the competitiveness of the enterprise. Innovations need inspiration from different kinds of work, which is supposed to be done by workers. Without innovations, the enterprise will be out of competitiveness and the market share will be gradually reduced. Thus workers may be concerned about the future of the enterprise and, simultaneously, will not be happier.

For those reasons mentioned above, workers' attitude towards their task, workers' horizon and worker's ability to innovate, it can be concluded that workers are happier to do various types of work. At the same time, it is time for entrepreneurs to change the pattern of their workers to improve the competitiveness of the enterprise.
