This reading passage mainly focuses on the application of genetically modified trees, which is the same as what the listening passage talks about. Whereas, the author contends that genetically modified trees can bring a lot of benefits to people, the professor disagrees with the argument posed by the author and gives three below points.
Firstly,  the author thinks that genetically modified trees are more resistant than normal trees. The professor refutes that argument and raises an example: because of the mutation of average trees, one species of trees can still leave some survivals after a disaster. Rather, genetically modified trees have completely same genes, thus, they will be vanished away after a climate change or the attack of new pest.
Secondly, the writter thinks the farmer can benefit a lot from the plantation of genetically modified trees owing to the above-average characteristics of these trees. The professor denies that point and argues that the producer of these genetically modified trees will obviously charge more to these farmers. For instance, every tree the farmer plant will be charged for certain money.
Thirdly, the author contends that the spread use of these genetically modified trees can meet the demand of wood from the human being.
The professor holds a different opinion and contends that these new comers will grow uncontrollably and overcompete with other trees for resources such as sunlight, nutrition and etc.
In a nutshell, the professor uses three convincing points to butress his opinion and proves that the argument that genetically modified trees can benefit our human beings a lot is incorrect.

独立写作 A\D Which way do you think is the best for a student to make new friends. A.joining a sports team, B. participate in community activities, C. traveling.
综合写作 TPO22

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a student, building up own social network is as important as absorbing academic knowledge. Thus, it is so necessary to make new friends. But which way is the best to make new friends for a student? From my point of view,  joining a sports team is a pretty good choice. Here are some reasons below:
Firstly, a sports team can bond people together and provide a comfort zone for students to make new friends.  In this team, if you can not communicate well with your teammates, the team will definitely be hard to win, and the prerequisite to make new friends is harmonious communication. Thus, in order to be a winning team, making new friends is the first thing. For instance, my brother, Jimmy, is a member of the basketball team in our school. He ever told me that because of his introversive characteristic, a handful of friends he ever had. Later, one of his friends suggested that joining a sports team can give a person many opportunities to make new friends especailly for those who are not outgoing. So, he joined the team and found that it would be impossible to operate the team if you failed to build a connection with others, that is, to make new friends successfully. Ultimately, this situation forced him to talk with others and make a lot of new friends. Therefore, joining a sports team can open a door for you to make friends.
Secondly, sports are common language for our human beings. Within diferent sports, we can meet people with all kinds of characteristics, and there must be some people sharing with you the same conception. Thus, so convenient it is to make new friends in a sports team. Just like the Olympic games, people from every corner of the world gather and exchange their various ideas. In the process of competition, they not only harvest the consequence but also harvest the friendship. A sports team don't have many titles attached; rather, it is a big family that accpet every student regardless of your skin, background, or class. So, once again, the sports team is really a wonderful place to make new friends.
Thirdly, the sport can kindle the fire of passion in the heart of human beings and thus stimulate their incentive to make new friends. According to a recent report from American Scientific Journal, people usually participating in sports game are more outgoing than normal people. Obviously, joining a sports team means doing more sports and taking part in more games, a result that students are more prone to behave outgoing, which is regarded as a stimulus of being social. Thus, students are easier to make new friends when joining a sports team compared with participating in community activities or traveling.
In a nutshell, for a student, a sports team can help him or her to enlarge the friends circle and build up the social network. So, joining a sports team is the best choice for a student to make new friends.

The reading passage mainly discusses an alternative to gasoline. The professor deals with the same issue. But they have different opinions regarding whether ethanol can replace gasoline. The professor in the lecture argues that ethanol is a good alternative to gasoline and gives three points to refute what the reading argues.
First, the author contends that ethanol can not dimish the emission of carbon dioxide and do nothing to global warming. The professor states that ethanol can not aggravate global warming because ethanol is made from corn, which can counteract with carbon dioxide, more precisely, corn can absord carbon dioxide, and ultimately, remove the effect ethanol caused to the atmosphere.
Secondly, the author thinks that the production of ethanol will slash the number of plants and influence other areas except the fuel area. The professor disagrees with that point and argues that some plants used to make ethanol is not eaten by animals. People can use these plants to produce ethanol. Thus, the use of non-animal-food plants can not influence the animal area.
Thridly, the author holds that opinion that the cost of ethanol is very high; therefore, the use of ethanol has no practical sense. The profess points out that government can provide support to the production of ethanol. Then, with the size of ethanol production, the cost will be decreased. Later, the price of ethanol will fall into a extent that normal people can afford it. At that time, the production of ethanol can be several times than gasoline.
In a nutshell, the professor successfully contradicts the arguments by the author and proves that ethanol is a suitable replacement for gasoline.
