First and foremost, they want to get to know you - much more than just what yousubmitted in your application for admission. It will bring"you" to life in a way that your essays, resume, and recommendationsmay not. It can definitely help your chances if you are a borderline candidateby showing how you "fit" with the School and yourenthusiasm/commitment, and can also help you better address perceived weaknessin your candidacy. 面试官希望看到的是你为什么会觉得这个学校对于你是非常适合的。 通过面试表现出你对学校的向往和对你职业目标的理性规划是比较推荐的。
So, if you are invited to interview...you should accept theoffer. And you will want to do some prepping before you go in to conduct theinterview. Both with interview question rehearsing, but also some introspection and due diligence.
The Admissions committee might have a current student, alum, admissions officer or even faculty member conducting the interview - it doesnot matter who is conducting the interview but they are likely to be chargedwith answering a few specific questions about you by the end of theconversation: 1. Do they think you would fit in to the MBA or MS program? 2.What are your career goals and do they assess that your goals are realistic? 3.What would you bring the program and contribute (personally and professionally)that another candidate might not? 4. Would you represent the School brand in apositive light as a student or alum? How they go about coming to answer thosequestions is different (in most cases it is not a list of set questions thatthey will ask you to answer but rather a less scripted conversation) but thoseare specific things they will address to the Admissions committee. 面试官主要看的是: 你适合这个项目嘛? 你的职业目标现实吗(可实现嘛)? 你可以带给这个项目什么, 是否可以代表学校形象?
It is usually a behavioral interview - what that means is that you need to come in with examples of how you have demonstrated certain skill sets or attributes(ie. leadership, team skills, conflict resolution) and not just the rehashed version of what you might have discussed in your admission essays. First and foremost, they want to know how you came to the decision to pursue graduateschool - they are looking for intention, motivation and direction in yourcareer and life goals. They will also want to know why you want to go to theirspecific school - be prepared with specific rationale. 通过面试他们想了解为什么你会选择在这个时候读硕士, 为什么你会选择这个学校。
Ultimately it is a combination of your poise, professionalism, communication skills and the actual answers you give that willbe assessed. (ie. both the content as well as your delivery)...so let's talkthrough a few specific questions that you might be asked and what the AdComwould be looking for in a broad sense.
