Whether parents should accompany theirchildren with games and sports activities or with study is a heated discussionnowadays. Some people consider that parents should share time doing games andsports with their children, while others prefer preaching their children. Admittedly, preaching children when they are young is a good way to teach their childrenand let them form a good habit of study. However, I am keen on the latterbecause I hold the view that accompanying their children with games and sportsactivities is beneficial to communication between parents and children, torelax whoever parents or children, and to foster children the concept of cooperationand competition. Firstly, games and sports activities arethe most direct way to shorten the distance between parents and children, tosome extent. During the playing, human beings are usually in high spirits andpeople with a good mood will sometimes prefer talking to someone else. Forexample, we can realize that almost every time, when children play with theirparents, they often are happier than when they study. Because study is boringand consumes people a lot of energy, children will feel too tired to say evenone word. Imagine that if there is usually a gap between children and parentsand parents compel their children learn longer time under their guard, how thisdeep gap can be shrunk? So in this way, we need games and sports activities tobring children and parents closer. Secondly, games and sports are theessential methods to reduce physical and metal fatigue. An old sentence goeslike that: only striking a balance between study and rest can be beneficial toindividual development. The purpose of the game and sport is to relax peopleand let people forget the work and study during that moment. One of the mostfamous psychologists in China once said: games and sports can promote people’shealth, such as circulate the blood cycle, reduce the probability of gettingdisease, and let people laugh. But if you imagine that at your parents’ leisuretime, they still take up their own leisure time to accompany with your study, how is your feeling? You will feel tired and confused and your parents willfeel even more tired after daily work. So why not changing this situationinstead let games and sports relax both parents and children? Therefore I amconvinced that we all realize the importance of playing. Finally, games and sports can teach childrenhow to treat competition and cooperation, two useful concepts in our world, under parents’ lead. As an effective means of keeping balance between or among complicatedsocial factors, competition could provide indispensable system for socialorganizations at different levels to motivate their members and inspire them tomake good performance. And the sense of competition can be learned from someexciting games and sports for the simple reason that everyone wants success. Whilecompetition helps enhance individual abilities, cooperation helps bringindividual abilities to full play, make up for each other’s inadequacy andenhance the overall quality of the parties involved. For example, thebasketball games tell members of a team how to cooperate with each other and allof these experiences cannot be acquired from study. So parents should spendtime playing with their children with games and sports like basketball game. In general, we cannot ignore the advantagesof accompanying children with their study for their parents. However theadvantages of playing with children for parents outweigh the benefits ofpreaching children at leisure time. Because playing with children, not only canbenefit parents themselves but also can shorten the gap between parents andchildren, debate children’s fatigue and teach them the importance ofcompetition and cooperation.
