Nowadays, sport is widely popular all over the world. There is a tendency that more and more children play sports in competition or contests. However, I think children should only play sports for fun in that it is a right way to their growing up.

Sport is just a tool for children, it is a good method to relax themselves so that they are able to be more efficient in studying, what’s more, if a child plays sports for fun, they could learn more from sports and make more friends than the one who hate to do some sports. According to a survey made by professor Cooper and his group, one of the most distinguish professor in Oxford university.In his research, he do a long-term research about 300 students, half of who do some sports or activities in their free time, the rest of who do not. Finally, he found that the one who often play sports in free time is more kind and has larger number of friends than the one who never do sports. In addition, this survey reveals that the students will do better in studying if they spend a lot of time on sports or activities, that means that sport in free time is a catalyst to promote the efficiency.

There are numerous benefit for children when it comes to sports, you can obtain many useful skills from sports,such as communication, cooperation. For example, one of my friends, Tom, he is a member of a nonprofessional soccer club, he just plays soccer with his teammate every Friday. By this way, he get how to cooperate well with others, what is the useful and comfortable communication with other people when sending the message. What’s more, these abilities are basic and helpful skills when seeking a job. Now, he is a high-salary employee of an international company due to these outstanding capabilities. Therefore，it is necessary for children to do some sports in free time.

Some one may hold the view that children need to play in competition because they will try their best to find the potential talent. Admittedly, competition is a stage of practicing oneself. Whereas, when it refers to game, we should not overlook the negative consequence of it. Many children concentrated on sports too much when they were young. In order to get a great result, they even hurt in training, what’s worse, this wound will follow them during their whole life. So they have no chance to enjoy themselves in activities, besides, it is a burden for them to do some sports.

To sum up, it is necessary for children to be a professional player, they just participate in sports for fun and relaxing themselves.

the reading’s conclusion that zebra mussels will continue their invasion to North America, exerting a serious threat to the local freshwater fish population. However, the professor disagree with this view.

First, according to the lecture, the professor thinks that it is impossible for the uncontrolled situation of zebra mussels’invasion because it fails to take into account the fact that today people possess enough knowledge and ability to think of efficacious solutions. One of the possible solutions is to require the ship to empty out the freshwater while still out in the ocean because salt water kills the mussels. In this way, the usual access through which zebra mussels travel to a new habitat has been stopped.

Second, the reading material refers to zebra mussels’ ability to dominate a new habitat. As is stated in the lecture, only in the beginning do zebra mussels have no predators in their new habitats. In the lecture, a compelling case in Europe in which the local aquatic birds notice there’s a new food source in a certain place dominated by the zebra mussel, eventually changing their habitats to hunt it as their major food. Since the birds can eat a lot of mussels,zebra mussels are not likely to survive there.

Third, the conclusion that zebra mussels may actually have a positive impact on fish that does not eat plankton, the lecture opposes to the reading’s argument that zebra mussels are likely to threaten the overall fish population in the habitats. One kind of fish populations, as is exemplified in the lecture, increase through eating the nutrients generated by the mussels, even if another kind of fish populations decrease.
