新人真心求教GMAT 720 IR8 AWA 6 算出彩的分吗

是不是一定要上750？
非常感谢。
目标是前二十的学校。GMAT会成为加分项吗（在先不考虑其他因素的情况下）

720 is definitely a good score, and is above the average gmat of most of the top 20 schools. however, you have to consider the application pool that you belong to.

for example, if you are in the mainland china group (or the asian international student group, which also includes tons of smart Indian), it is not going to help you stand out because most of the top 20 school's applications has at least 700+. from this perspective, the gmat alone will not give you an extra edge.

after all, gmat alone never really give you an extra edge even it is 750+. it is the complete package that really matters.

Thank you very much! Indians are taking over US Universities!! I am concerned since I only have 2+ year working experience in engineering and technology (actually sustainability industry in US) and it's hard for me to find some fancy project management experience etc.. So I am thinking if I need to retake the GMAT exam.. What do you think is the most important thing in applying B school?

非常感谢。主要是工作经验不多，也跟金融管理等行业不相关，top2本科，US top20 硕士，GPA 3.73/3.84目前在美国一个sustainability 的小公司工作了两年多。想来想去觉得北京太弱，觉得就GMAT好像可控一点，有点想再考第二遍。。但又有些犹豫毕竟时间不早了，而且这回AWA和IR都是满分，怕下回反而考不到这分了。。

不好意思

可能不同的人情况不同，我其他方面尤其是工作经验很弱小，所以比较紧张GMAT。。。

I have just done with the nightmare of mba application, so i know what you are going thru right now.

couple weaknesses i spotted so far - 2 years of experience is a bit on the low end, and the lack of manager title or experience could also hinder your chance.

so in order to draw adcom's attention, the rest of the profile is important:
- gmat - 720 is good, if you can finish the rest of the package strong, i would leave it right there at 720.
- undergrade school & gpa - because you have less than 3 years of working experience, this is important, especially what undergrad school you came form.
- extracurriculum - sth you can't change it in a short period of time. hopefully you have some good experience to share, especially some leadership examples.
- essays - essay is more than just answer the essay prompts. it is a opportunity to link your background, school culture, and your career goal together.
- resume - resume is the shortest part of your application (in term of number of words), but don't underestimate its heft! there is always room of improvement. keep digging into your work experience to improve your resume. my own example - the number of words in my final version was twice as much as that of the first draft.

again, 720 is a good score, shouldn't hinder you from getting into a top 20. but if you want to get some schorlaship, 720 may not be enough to secure some good $$.

schools like tepper and mccombs is a good start for you. make sure you check them out.

Thank you very much! That really helps! My undergraduate is from PKU with GPA 3.7+. I graduated from CMU with my master so I'll definitely apply Tepper school. If I get in, I don't even need to relocate

SO MUCH PRESSURE!

So you are saying 750/6.0/8 doesn't give extra edge either?
