关于申请S16和欧洲MBA的选择，想听听大家的意见

大家好，我准备申请2016秋季入学的MBA项目，但现在对选择申请的学校还不算特别确定，所以想听听大家对于学校选择的建议。我自己的简要背景如下:

欧洲金融+工科硕士，GPA 3.3左右
GMAT 760，TOEFL可以waive掉
在欧洲一家制造业公司总部做strategy，工作经验三年，现在是一个小的team leader

自己MBA之后的中短期职业计划是进入tier-one consulting工作几年，长期希望回亚洲做pe

现在打算申请的学校有INSEAD, Tuck, Darden, Booth, 另外如果Olin或者Notre Dame有奖的话也打算考虑。不知道大家觉得这样的学校选择怎么样呢? 觉得Wharton和CBS也值得试试，但一来要申请的学校数量已经不少了，另外自己以后不打算进投行，所以没有首先考虑这两所学校。谢谢大家的意见！

基于lz短期想去tier one consulting的目标，可以把Chicago CBS换成Kellogg，US Top 15以外的学校对tier one consulting这一目标的帮助会非常有限，建议可以放掉Olin和Mendoza

谢谢斑点狗同学的回答！我自己了解到作为外国人在美国进tier one咨询可能难度比较大。当然如果能在美国工作一段时间会是不错的经历，但自己会把找consulting的重心放在欧洲和亚洲。

另外斑点狗同学，看了你以前的帖子，你是在Ross念书吧。不知道你们学校怎么样，底特律的经济情况对你们学校有影响么?

对于外国人而言，美国学校对于找欧洲Consulting的帮助会弱于欧州学校，当然反之亦然，如果欧洲是重点的话建议可以加上LBS。

Michigan是GM/Consulting的传统强校，所以在Consulting有非常好的presence，其实每年我们只有5%的人去底特律工作，所以底特律并没有给就业带来显著影响，我就不在lz的帖子里给学校做广告了，lz感兴趣的话可以搜搜CD上近两年有关Michigan Ross的帖子吧，望理解，祝好！

再次感谢！LBS的话因为觉得需要两年，还不如到北美感受感受，而且跨过海就有INSEAD这样一个选择，所以就没有考虑了。我会再好好看看Kellogg和Ross.

tier-one consulting那就卯足劲儿申consulting强的学校吧，欧洲就INSEAD吧，LBS，wharton，CBS的话还是finance见长。

如果欧洲语言只会英文，基本上也就和top-tier咨询无缘了，伦敦实在竞争太惨烈

So first of all, I think you should try and get settled in your goals. Very few people will go into consulting and THEN move into PE. If you want to go into one or another, you will usually continue in the same direction, so my first suggestion is that you clarify your goals, because it will help you choose your schools.

Now if your goals are consulting, then really any of the top 10 schools in the US can work. MBB recruit from Kellogg, from Tuck, from HBS, etc etc etc. INSEAD is of course also an excellent choice, given that you want to go back to Asia. But then again, so is Haas. and Wharton and CBS too.

I don’t yet have enough of a sense of your profile to advise you “Apply here”. But if you give me more info, maybe I can help you out better.

Many thanks for your comments! And I noticed that you've also given lots of helpful responses to questions from other people on this forum - thumb up to your spirit of sharing experience and willingness to help!

Now regarding my career goal, in longer term I am most interested in PE. I do understand that a few years experience in investment banking post MBA is a much more conventional way which leads to a job in PE, but working in IB is not really something that touches my heart in the first place, and this is why I am now thinking of using work experience in consulting as a stepping stone for a PE job, which sounds not that conventional.

And to be very frank, in my mind the career goals written in MBA application are subject to changes during that one/two years time of MBA study. This is also why I am not so sure in the application essay, how specific should it be in terms of describing one's career goal post MBA. I'd really appreciate it if you could shed some lights on this.
