143. Some people believe that students should be given one long vacation each year. Others believe that students should have several short vacations throughout the year. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.

This is a controversial issue about whether students should be given one long vacation or several short vacations throughout the year. It depends on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern. Accordingly, someone argue that having a long vacation is helpful to the students. Although their arguments sound reasonable, I would argue that they fail to recognize some potential benefits. My augments are listed as follows.

The essential reason can be see by everyone is that the short vacation can help students to avoid meeting the time when they have the low efficiency to study. In scorching summer and severe cold winter, it is very difficult for students to concentrate on their study. In an addition, in some holidays, we need break as well, such as Christmas Day, Spring Festival which is the biggest festival in China. The holiday atmosphere is all around us, therefore, we cannot still study as a machine without knowing to have fun. However, in these intervals, students can put some time on their hobbies and learn other skills except for the school study. In short, even though there are many different views concerning this topic, in my part, I also would like to vote for having several short vacations to students throughout the year.

Another reason of my propensity for preference of having several short vacations each year is that the short break will help students to review the knowledge they learn previously. As we know, the load of students which imposes on them is becoming heavier and heavier everyday. Hence, students should spare some time to review the knowledge. If not , the knowledge will be lost by the students. So the short break will also give some opportunities to students for reviewing their knowledge and make the students relaxing and be more energetic to face the new semesters. So, as far as I am concerned, having short vacations is a wise choice.

In conclusion, the beneficial effect of having short vacations is to avoid meeting the low-effective time to study, learn other skills and have enough time to review. Thus ,I strongly commit to the notion that having several vacations, but not having a long vacation.
