Twe 135 some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these two school policies do you think is better?
In the daily life, people are always confronted with a lot of questions, analysis of which will help people to make better decisions. One of such intriguing issues is whether high schools should require all students to wear school uniforms. Facing this question, different people will present different answers due to respective experiences and standpoints. As far as I am concerned, I think that requiring all students to wear school uniforms is a good idea. The reasons are listed as follows.
To begin with, wearing uniforms will make all students feel equal in school and help them develop a good character. If schools permit students to decide what to wear to school, it is obvious that rich students will wear more beautiful and expensive clothes than those poor students. In fact, the distinction of clothes will not only make students feel unequal but affect their personality as well. For example, students dressing beautiful clothes will be easy to become more and more arrogant and conceited, and poor students may incline to lose self-confidence and courage gradually. However, wearing school uniforms, students would sense no difference among them and foster a healthy character.
Next, wearing uniform will help students to put most of their time and concentration on studying. Almost all students, especially girls, are interested in dressing greatly. When allowed to wear what they want, students would inevitably spend a lot of time on purchasing and selecting clothes instead of studying. Things are totally different if students are asked to wear uniforms. By wearing uniforms, they do not need to consider too much about clothes and spend much time on shopping, and therefore facilitate them to pay more time and energy on their studies.
In addition, uniforms are beneficial to cultivate team spirit. Wearing uniforms, students would be easier to communicate and cooperate with each other. For instance, during a contest between different schools, wearing school uniforms will encourage each team’s players to advance together, to fight for the honor for their own group. Thus their communication and consideration will be greatly improved and enhanced.
To sum up, for the reasons which have been discussed above, it is safe for me to draw the conclusion that high schools should require all students to wear school uniform. Wearing uniforms will benefit students to develop good character, to pay more concentration on studying and to cultivate team spirit. |
