Technology is improving. The society is progressing. Life is also changing. New ideas and innovative management is of great significance to the prosperity of any organization in any field. In my point of view, it is quite essential for those in power, in any field, to step down after five years, since new leadership helps to bring revitalization to the organization.
First, we must admit that too long a term of leadership breeds coruption and the abuse of power. Long term of leadership strengthen the power of leaders in an organization, and pose the illusion to the leader that he or she is powerful enough flee from receiving bribe or committing other illegal events. A case in point is the incidence of Water Gagte scandle. Nixon abused his power to spy the meeting of Democratic Party in order to maitain his position for a longer time, which contrary led to his resignation from the persidency and ruined the image of government in the mind of its citizens. Thus, limiting the term of leadership is and effective way to prevent corruption and abusing.
Moreover, without a limited term of leadership, the leader may not work as positive as it is expected. With time going on, the leader's ability may not grow or even regress. In that case, the leader may no longer be able to cope with the high burden of an organization's prosperity and what he or she is able to do is merely to keep the company intact. On the other hand, the leader will not have to worry about his position since the term is so long and he will probably sluggish in the job.
The most important thing is that limiting the term of leadership can help certain enterprise to revital. Long term of leadership may condemn a enterprise to a hackneyed state, which holds back the progress of that company, losing its competitive ability little by little. With a new leadership bringing new ideas, the enterprise may rid itself of past disadvantages and gain more advantages from its innovation. The CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs brought Apple new products and innovative ideas, which helps Apple to be famous throughout the world till now. This case illustrates the great value of innovation to a certain enterprise . Consequently, new leadership should be encouraged to guaranteen the creativity of a enterprise.
Still, the fact can not be ignored that in some field, like Federal Reserve, a five-year term may not be sufficient to achieve the goal. Yet, the leadership still needs to change through a longer period. Only in this can new ideas be assured to be infused into the organization and bring prosperity to that organization.
