20100924 Do you agree or disagree that Colleges or universities should offer students a better job preparation before they can start working.
Imperative as it looks at first sight, students should be offer a better preparation before they can start working. Along with the unemployment in the world, the competition in job market is becoming more and more drastic. How can we students stand out of hundreds and thousands of candidates to be hired by firms which we have dreamed of? The answer to this question is partially related to the job preparation offered by universities.
University, nowadays, doesn’t only serve as an institution which provides the mere knowledge, but it also acts as a market which can offer any sorts of job preparation. It isn’t hard for us to image a modern university to serve only one purpose. This will render the university out of date and competition. As the saying goes”the best knowledge must be combined with practice”, so there is a growing demand for universities to provide some job practice to students. Only by doing so can a university meets the demand from its students.
In addition, providing job preparation is good for students to get to know what kind of jobs they do really what to do after graduation. It is obvious that many students have no concrete goals of what kind of jobs are suitable for them and thus they waste lots of time following others to locate a job which they are poor at. If universities can give some job preparation and instruction before students really enter job market, the function of the university will be enlarged as a bridge, benefiting not only students, but the society as a whole.
Last but not the least; universities should assume the responsibility to cultivate students into well-rounded persons. It will be late and costly for a student to be trained when he finds a job, since all companies are benefits-motivated, they won’t be willing to devote much time and money to training a green-hand. Consequently, the student will not get enough training and he will still face many problems while working.
To sum up what I have mentioned above, we can safely draw the conclusion that it is absolutely necessary for universities or colleges to offer students job preparation before they can start working. Only by doing so can our students be prepared well in a promising job position! |
