60. Politicians should pursue common ground and reasonable consensus rather than elusive ideals.
Political ideals are political objectives, political system and political life people are chasing. Should politician pursue common ground and reasonable consensus rather than elusive ideals? In my perspective, it is understandable that politicians present some elusive ideals that are hard to be analyzed quantitatively; nevertheless, the ideals of politicians are bound to fall on people who in essential support them.
Assuredly, it is reasonable for politicians to set some high political ideals that appeal to people. These ideals could attract people to support their ideas. However, people now have inevitable predisposition to suspect the genuine intentions of politicians’ elusive ideals, which could evade people’s scrutiny for its lack of lucidity. This results from the vagueness of the ideals to be analyzed quantitatively, and hence politicians have perennial explanatory power to circumvent the flaws of them. Such slogans as equality, justice, transparency, for instance, are elusive and people can exert no measure to check whether the politicians are indeed devoted in them.In contemporary society, media censures permeate every corner of the society, and thus people have more approaches to discover the deceptive nature under the elusive ideals. This also contributes to the problem of disbelief led by elusive ideals. Thus, it is wise for politicians to pursue common ground and reasonable consensus rather than elusive ideals. Firstly, the multitude are the core of the society, and correspondingly the core supporting power of the policies and ideas of the politicians; without people, the policies and ideas of politicians have nowhere to go and vanish into the air. Secondly, it ispoliticians’ duty to consult the opinion of people, for they impose prodigious taxation on them, and what they are supposed to advert is that once the anger of people reaches its culmination, the subverting power is threatening to their governance. Finally, consensus has its denotation of good eclecticism, in that it amalgamates the opinion of the majority and congregates more wits. However, ideals are necessary to be set, in that more frequently people are not that perspicacious to perceive what politicians want to convey. People also need the slogans to assure themselves of the capabilityof the politicians they select and check whether they are actually creating welfare for people. Without ideals, the policies may decrease in its efficiency and effectiveness;without consensus, no one would support politicians and thus it cannot livelong. On balance, it is understandable that ideals of politicians are difficult to be measured, however, politicians ought to make their behaviors transparent enough to convince their people. What’s more, politicians are better to set their ideals to fall on people and satisfy them as much aspossible. |
