TOPIC 134: Do u agree /disagree? Children should be required to help with household tasks as soon as they are able to do so.

With coming of some so-called new conception of education, “housework education” looms up in our society. Then children in increasing numbers are forced with dishcloths or besoms by their parents. It is true that some cleaning or washing tasks could improve the living-capabilities of children in some way; However, is it necessary to do those tough housework when kids are just 7 or 8 years old?

The first reason that came to my mind is for children, the knowledge from books or TV bring more fruits than housework. Books, the source of human’s intelligence, is an open-ended and all-inclusive mentor who lead children absorb knowledge like sponge. Meanwhile, television, one of the greatest inventions in 20th century, offer a direct and easy-understanding way for children to study. For example, when I was 7 years old, a TV program, “ten thousand questions”, like a key, inspired my desire of knowledge and erected my dream----become a physicist.

The second reason that can not be ignored is compared spending time in doing household tasks, playing games is a more rational and effective choice for children. Games are simplified models of the real life in the society. Most rules governing a social life are highlighted in games. Games, an attractive, firendly, and patient teacher, unconsciously helps young citizens build up their characters---perservance, carefulness, courgae, confidence, and gives them a lot of useful advice when they are devouring the time.

Beyond these obvious reasons, there lies an in-depth reason that some household tasks such as washing dishes or cleaning the windows may have chances to injure immature kids.

According to the above-mentioned discussion, It is easy to draw the conclusion that for children, instead of holding housework, spending more time to absorb knowledge or play games  is much more reasonable and rational.
