In this argument, the author concludes that the birth order is the determining factor of the levels of the stimulation. At first glance, the argument appears to be somewhat reasonable, actually, further reflection tell me that it has a myriad of assumptions and holes.
First and foremost, the author presumptuously assumes that the order of the rhesus monkey is the primary factor for the hormone cortisol , by corroborating his conclusion, he cites that the first born monkey produces twice the hormone than the others, it is apparently possible that it is the kind and class of the experiment of the objects, rather than the birth order , which gives rise to the difference of the hormone among the monkeys and human.
In addition, the author relies his assumption on the factor that the firstborn human has relative high level of hormone than their siblings, chancesare high that it is the special term of the monkey and the human that brings about the distinction of the hormone level ,since in this article ,the monkeys and the human are either the firstborn or the first time to have children, but not the other time of their life.
Moreover, we can also cast serious doubt on the considerably presumption of the author, it is high possible that it is the circumference of stimulation rather than the birth order that contributing to the inequality of the hormone level. While the author pay no heed to the other possible reason that impinging on the same result.
In conclusion, the argument actually has several flaws as discussed above. To make the argument more convincing, the author would have to take every possible consideration into account and provide more information for evaluating this claim.
