GWD1-Q7:
A recent review of pay scales indicates (that CEO’s now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times in) 1980.

C.    that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio(正确选项)

GWD26-Q20
In 1981 children in the United States spent an average of slightly less than two and a half hours a week doing household( chores; by 1997 they had spent nearly six hours a week.)

B.    chores; by 1997 that figure had grown to nearly six hours a week(正确选项)
D.    chores, compared with a figure of nearly six hours a week in 1997(错误选项)

问题:
GMAT中compare with/to 是不作区分的对吧?

A recent review of pay scales indicates that CEO’s now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times in 1980.

A. that CEO’s now earn an average of 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, compared to a ratio of 42 times

B. that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, a ratio that compares to 42 times
---CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers比较点对了,但是xxx times不可以,后面必须有Noun,表示倍数得有xxx times Noun才行,这个结构跟percentage有点像,得有xxx percentage Noun,否则你根本不知道是针对什么的percentage

C. that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio
---CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers比较点对。times表达也对,the ratio 很好的修饰了前句:as compared to 42 times their pay因为这个结果是个比例

D. CEO’s who now earn on average 419 times more pay than blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio
A indicate that sb who xxxxxx,

E. CEO’s now earning an average of 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, compared to the ratio of 42 times

In 1981 children in the United States spent an average
of slightly less than two and a half hours a week doing
household chores; by 1997 they had spent nearly six
hours a week
.

A. chores; by 1997 they had spent nearly six hours
a week ==》they指代谁?可以是children也可以是chores,这里的they先行词不唯一

B. chores; by 1997 that figure had grown to nearly
six hours a week ==》用分号把两句给隔开了,分号后应该是independent clause,这里是svo关系,还有前面说的是数字,后面用that figure表示也正确。LZ看曼哈顿书that这种代词的表达可以知道:that +Noun的表达是允许的

C. chores, whereas nearly six hours a week were
这根本就不是平行的结构,如果要平行应该是:sb do sth whereas sb do sth,现在是sb do sth, whereas sth be done,就不对了。

D. chores, compared with a figure of nearly six hours
a week in 1997 ==》compared作为分词应该就近修饰前置词:chores错误

E. chores, that figure growing to nearly six hours a
week in 1997 ==》虽然这里也是that figure,但是that是不能做非限制性定从前面有逗号的,即便是想作为独主的结构:svo, N的形式,也应该是svo, the figure xxx,不能用that figure放在这里

the coach ran a play with five receivers on the line, and this strategy succeeded nicely --> ok (although a bit awkward in this case).
the coach ran a play with five receivers on the line, this/that strategy succeeding nicely --> incorrect type of modifier for this situation.
the coach ran a play with five receivers on the line, a strategy that succeeded nicely --> correct type of modifier for this situation.
