The point of the future goals essay is to express to convey to the admissions committee that you have a clear idea of what you would like to do with your MBA. Your goal should build off of your previous experience and should incorporate skills you are going to gain during business school. You should also break your goals into short-term and long-term and your short-term goal should be a step on the way towards your long-term goal.
One example of this would be starting your own business. If this is your goal, you would first talk about your previous education and experience. Then you should talk about how you want to achieve a long-term goal of starting a company that fits with your background - if you work in fashion, talk about starting a fashion company; if you work in media, talk about building an e-commerce/social media/ad agency firm etc. Next, you should say that you will need specific skills and business relationships that you can only get from the business school you are applying for. Finally, you should talk about how you will take a job out of business school after graduation that will help you establish yourself, then use that experience to start your business and thus achieve your long term goal.
The most important things to remember in writing this essay are that your goals should always be clear and fit your background and that each step, from your undergrad to your short-term goal, should be leading you closer to your long-term goal.
Hope this helps!
