正确答案(E)中怎么没有助动词have呢？句子比较的应当是the decisions of J.M的influence 和 the decisions of any other chief justice 的influence。如果没有have的话, 岂不是变成比较the decisions of J.M的influence 和the decisions of any other chief justice了？这样明显是不符合同类比较原则的呀

I feel that the above 3 sentences mean the same thing.

And 'those', a plural pronoun, refers to 'decisions', rather than 'influence'.

同意those是指代decisions

但是没道理说助动词have就可以省啊

比如说 A have had a bigger influence than B have 是正确的

A have had a bigger influence than B 我认为就有问题，因为这好象是拿A的influence和B去比。

而且根据白勇的《语法全解》P108. as 或 than 引导的比较从句中的省略原则3

主句谓语动词短语使用助动词（如have, has, had ,will）或情态动词（can, could, may, should）+ verb形式时，比较从句往往省略verb，保留助动词或情态动词

所以我的观点就是，这道题目的四个选项都有问题

本题考察句子的对称性,句子中在后面的名词有that or those来代替,

所以本题前面是The decisions of John Marshall, the fourth chief justice,

因此答案中than those of any other chief justice in history ,用those代替the decision ,

题目中的OF前后和答案中的OF前后都对称

我不认为本题是在直接比较两者的decisions，而是在比较两者decisions的influence。如此的话have就不能省。

所谓的直接比较两件事物是指对两件事物的某项固有属性进行比较

如 A is bigger than B，此时后面的be动词可以省略。然而此句显然是对两个decisions具有的某种事物进行比较。

这就好比说拿中国的人口和美国的人口进行比较就应当是 China has a bigger population than US does. 如果写成China has a bigger population than US. 就是拿中国的人口和美国去比较了，这样就是错误的。正如本题的(E)选项

嗯！lz说的有理，当时我选E是因为other挺显眼的。可不可以这么理解，应该有have，但是这里只有相对正确的啦，og把other放在首位……
