D中的it属于形式主语,主语从句由whether引导。

C中的it不是形式主语，形式主语要放在最前头指代后面的真正主语，所以it没有指代对象

是的，形式主语的功能就是因为主语太长，把主语放到后面去，它来形式地代替下主语

The book, "Cambridge", says that using a noun is much better than starting with just "It" because it is very clear for readers to understand the subject.

同意斑斑～～任何代词都无法指代整个句子单独充当主语，所以这里的it无指代对象。

另外，介词短语后可加名词性从句,但不能加完整的主谓结构。
