我的问题是我就把and they inhibit分句看作与主句并列(they指代benefits)怎么错了？规则是什么？

你要考虑逻辑意思。

这里they语法上是指代benefits的，但benefits不可以inhabits.

而把inhabits放进修饰compound的从句里 才是逻辑上合理的。

看《prep注解》的时候，知道要从逻辑上去考虑，但是没觉得逻辑上有什么问题。（因为我理解inhibit就是benefits之所以被称之为benefits的方式啊，换句话说，因为有inhibit的功能，所以被叫做benefits）

听你的意见，我现在觉得还是有微小差别的。compound inhibit更科学，更严谨一些。
