The lady was really nice and turned out to be my alumni. I simply can't believe that i screwed it! To be fair, it wasn't an intimidating interview at all. She started the conversation very nicely and was extremely considerate. The conversation went on very smoothly. Everything seemed to be going on great until i was asked to write a piece of article about chinese media. I guess i did not understand the topic very well and it took me ages to write an essay(ok, i might as well admit that i am useless and stupid)
How could that be? I used to pride myself on my writing ability and communication skills. Now i lost this opportunity because of my inability to write anything sensible.
I feel so bad after the interview. Initially i thought maybe i should write to the lady and apologize for wasting her time. Then i thought about writing another essay and explaining why i was able to write during the interview-such as nervousness or sth. But somehow i felt that neither is appropriate. It is much better to admit one's ignorance than defend it when it is quite apparent.
Write a thank-you letter asap to affirm your interest and also attach sample writings from the past with explanation about your interview writing flop.
