Topic: do you agree that parents are the best teachers?

Nowadays, in America, quiet a few parents prefer to teach their children by themselves at home. But in my opinion, either for the knowledge-teaching or character-building, parents aren’t the best teachers. The reasons are as followed.

Firstly, a lot of parents haven’t been trained formally for teaching, compared with teachers, so they can’t teach their children academic knowledge ,neither do they have a systematic plan of teaching . Take my father as an example. My father just graduated from primary school. What can he teach me with so limited knowledge, maths ,English or nothing ?  Hence, I don’t think parents have the quality to be teachers, especially .in teaching children knowledge.

In addition someone thinks that parents have greater influence on children’s character_building than their teachers . However, we can not make sure that all the influence is good For instance, children will imitate their parents’ bad habits like smoking ,gambling ,sleeping late etc.  And researches show that children born in a family full of family violence will be spineless or violent-liking in their future life. So, in the process of character-building , parents can be angles or devils. It’s hard to say .So we can’t say that parents are the best teachers, maybe it’s just the other way.

And finally, I’m always told that parents are the closest people to the children .Is that true ? Maybe we should change our mind from now on. As is known to all, most parents have to work.. So the time they spend with their children is limited, perhaps less than eight hours (one third of a day )..Let alone the generation gap between parents and children .I once met some kids who seldom share things with their parents. Since it is likely that children are less close to their parents than teachers or friends, I don’ think parents are the best teachers to children.

In one word, according to the limitation of knowledge and time as well as the parents’ bad impacts on their children, I believe there are alternative people to be children’s best teachers other than parents.

The reasons are as followed.第一句和后面没什么关系，没有起到引出观点的效果。楼主最好解释一下问什么在美国很少有人自己教育孩子了，比如自己意识到自己的教育会误导孩子，或者意识到老师的教导更加的专业，然后引出论点。

My father, for example, just graduated from primary school. How can he teach me maths ,English with so limited knowledge?  Hence, I don’t think parents have the quality to be teachers, especially .in teaching children knowledge. 写的太少了，论点要展开写。 比如写自己的父亲这个例子的时候可以说他小学毕业，只学过简单的算术，和语文，没学过英语。这样他怎么教导我来学习微积分或者英文。就算是父母懂得这些知识，有的时候由于没有受过专业的教育训练，他们也不知道怎么来给孩子系统的讲授这些知识，因此父母在教育孩子知识的方面不是最好的老师。抛砖引玉，具体怎么写楼主好好想想。
