题目：the best way to improve the quality of education is to increase teacher's salary
Nowadays, with the development of the society, education problems are in the spotlight everywhere. The factors that can have impact on the quality of education have become more than ever before. The question has been raised, “Is it true that the best way to improve the quality of the education is to raise the teacher’s salary level?” My answer is basically yes. I believe increasing teacher’s salary is a significant consideration, but not necessarily the best way. The reasons are threefold.
First and foremost, increasing teacher’s salary can motivate them to spend more energy and time on their courses and students. For instance, to support his family, a teacher who has very low salary needs to find some part time jobs to earn more money, so that he may not has sufficient time to prepare well for his classes or to check all of the students’ homework. It will bring tremendously negative impact to students’ academic performance if their teacher has so many other things to think about. While, when provided high salary, the teacher will be more concentrate on his teaching and thus help improve the study efficiency of his students.
Secondly, high level of salary can attract more people to devote themselves to education industry. In my country, many college school teachers and professors give up their teaching career because their salaries in school are too low. Furthermore those master or doctor degree students do not want to stay at school to be a college teacher. Amounts of schools have been meeting the situation of not having adequate highly educated teachers. As we all know, it is so hard for a school to improve the quality of its education if it don’t have enough good teachers. Only if the salary of teacher has been increased, does the school have chance to attract more teachers and improve the quality of its education.
Thirdly, high salary level will raise teacher’s status in the society. In many developing countries, teaching is not a respectable job for its low salary. Increasing teacher’s salary may change people’s opinion of teaching and may have considerably positive effect on the education of a country.
On the other hand, to say that the best way to improve the quality of education is to increase teacher’s salary is an overstatement. Compare to the increase of salary, many other factors play no less even greater role in the improvement of education. For example, government investment on modifying the equipment of the school can also improve the quality of education. Students can use internet or multi-media to study, which significantly improve their efficiency.
In conclusion, I think increasing teacher’s salary is a necessary way to improve the quality of education but not the best, and other factors can also do much benefit to the education industry such as government investment on improving the equipment of schools. |
