请问大家都是什么时候准备申请的？

新年好，希望大家在新的一年有更多更好的收获。

言归正传，本人因为工作原因，想推迟一年申请，准备申请2010年入学的MBA。江湖传言，早起的鸟儿有虫吃，我是宁可信其有啊，所以新年赶个早，问问大家，一般都该什么时候准备着手申请？我对申请时间上面可能估计不够，想大概了解一下行情。设申请八个学校，或者保险十个，然后想第一轮申请，大概如何个时间策略安排。GMAT已经考过，托福不用了。希望过来的前辈不吝赐教，谢过～还有一个，我悄悄问问，参加CD的workshop是什么个意思啊？但我人不在国内，这个如何操作呢？有什么经验可以谈谈吗？再谢～

I began thinking about doing an MBA in late August, promptly found recommenders, did my GMAT and wrote my essays in time for both Wharton and Stanford in R1 in early Oct (although ultimately I submitted only Wharton's application).

While I wouldn't recommending doing it as rushed as myself, I really don't think you need that much time. And, needless to say, I didn't have the help of CD workshops at that time either, but what I found useful was the help of friends who were good writers (eg. PhD holders, investment bankers etc..) who could help me read the essays and see if they made sense.

I have seen couple of your posts in this forum and some where else before. They are all very kind and informative. Keep it up~~~

I just regards this as a project and I hope I could have a big picture before I head into it. Since I will have lots of things and commitment this year, I just want to have a brief idea to work out my schedule at the very beginning. As a people in U.S., do you think those essay editors are useful? like essay edge.com sth.? Their fee ranges from 5K to 10K. I need to polish my essay for sure, but I am not sure whether it is worthy. That is good to have some good connections, well, I am in finance side, but not in bank, kinda difficult to find such person ..............

If you think you need the help, then you'll have to think about ROI: do you think it's worth it to spend $5K to get into, say Stanford instead of Duke? For many applicants at consulting companies or banks, they actually have structured programmes in which alumni of each school help you read your essay and help you edit them. So bear in mind that even though others may not be investing in such services, they in fact probably have as good help from within their own companies. If you don't have access to such resources, then I see the consultancies as a way for you to 'rent' such resources.
