我的第一篇AA28,请大家执教

In this argument, the author concludes that the transit company must either reduce the shuttle bus fares or increase the price of parking at the subway stations if the company hopes commuters to ride the shuttle buses instead of driving there. To justify his claim, the author reasons that commuter use of the new subway train is exceeding the transit company’s projections while commuter use of the shuttle buses that transport people to the subway stations is below the projected volume. Although this argument has some merit, it is problematic in the following reasons.

To begin with, the author oversimplifies the problem occurred in the transit company. He supposes that the problem is only affected by shuttle bus fares and the price of parking. Yet, there still other factors which the author doesn’t concern. For example, the shuttle bus may be not convenient for people or there are some traffic accidents occurred recently. Therefore, the author should not only focus on two reasons and should concern more other factors.

In addition, the author points out that shuttle bus limited use can be only solved by reducing the shuttle bus fares or increasing the price of parking at the subway stations. However, there are still other alternatives such as adding more bus lines, increasing the number of bus etc. The author should find out the solutions according to the real factors which caused the problem. Moreover, the author suggests that only reducing the shuttle bus fares or increasing the price of parking at the subway stations can increase the use of shuttle bus but maybe combining the two ways is more sufficient than choosing only one of them.

Besides, the author assumes that people can go to the subway station only by driving or taking the shuttle bus. However, there are maybe other transports for people to use such as taxi. Therefore, the author should do more research on the matter whether driving and shuttle bus are the only two methods for people to go to the subway station.

In conclusion, the author fails to validate the recommendation that the transit company should either reduce the shuttle bus fares or increase the price of parking at the subway stations. To strengthen the argument, the author must examine all possible factors which may account for the shuttle’s unpopularity. Additionally, the author must consider all possible solutions to determine which combination of the solutions can bring about the greatest increase in shuttle use.
