试着做一下，这里有两个谓语动词，应该中间要么有关系词连接两个句子，而且后句缺主语，但A语义好像不符，B,C表示从句结构，缺主语。
but连接两个平行对称结构，后面的主语就是前面的主语

Adult humans generally need about seven or eight hours of sleep while infants need as twice as much.

我觉得of介词多余，about 7 or 8 hours看作一个整体修饰sleep

应该去掉第一个as。twice as much，twice 修饰 as much，表示“两倍之多”。
这是固定用法，更一般的形式是“倍数+ as much/many as...” 例如，

We need ten times as many people as those showed up today to finish that project.
要完成这个项目，我们需要今天来的人数的十倍那么多的人。

记住这种用法就是了。
