1.社区建高中  同意不同意

Recently, the problem of teenager schooling has been brought to public attention in our community. As to me, I'll totally agree with the significant idea of establishing a new high school in our neighborhood, which would obviously bring a lot of benefits.

Among all the advantages setting a new high school in our community will bring us, the most notable one must be its convenience. Teenagers would no longer waste their time squeezing into buses during rush hours, because they can simply walk to the newly-built school where is quite near. To put it into a further step, it is quite normally to see a teenager dozing on class after an exhausted battle on bus for hours. Well, if we'll set a high school just in our community, we may easily draw a conclusion that this unpleasant scene on class would be rare to see. Besides, it would save their precious time on the way to school, or to go back home. For that saved time, whether they want to use it for improving studies by reading or for strengthening their body by outdoor exercises would be just nice and recommendable.

Another reason makes me go for the plan is the safety of teenagers would be greatly guaranteed as they’ll do everything just near their homes. We must face the undeniable fact that everyday we’ll easily read some horrible news about car accident, or teenager robbery and so on. As to the robbery, alone the stolen money, how could the youth bear the deeply mental suffering of the dark experience? And as to those car accidents, how many times we’ve pitied for the young age casualty while ceaselessly felicitating it had not happened on our kids. If their high school was just near their home, that ghastful news would seem far to us as they’d no longer be drifted into the chaotic streets everyday. While under the protection of safety guards, it would be way difficult for the bandit to access to those students. Surely I know teenagers should walk their own way to see a bigger world but not always under protecting wings. But as in my point of view, nothing is more important than their life and health, without which, they could hardly do anything.

The last reason for my approval is that with most of the classmates living in the neighborhood, teenagers would not easily feel isolated as they do now. Take my younger brother for instance; he is now studying at a key high school sited in the city center where is famous for the superior level of faculty and facilities. But the problem is that after school, he could not see any of his schoolmates whether to discuss an academic problem or to go out for fun because people in this school live everywhere so that they could just meet each other on class. I really concern this——What if he lost his ability to communicate with others? Because in this society, to learn how to communication is way too important than just learning from books. So, the community high school is quite necessary because students can be combined wherever they are, so that they can easily share opinions and thoughts.

Clearly, all the analysis leads to an unshakeable consequence that it will be great to set a new high school in our community. Besides all the reasons discussed above, it is always right for a country to pay more attention on its education, without which the country could hardly develop rapidly. And it’s more gratifying for most of the dwellers to see the void space turning into a high school rather than a noisy and messy factory or something else.

2.You’ve decide to give several hours of your time each month to improve the community where you live. What is one thing you will do to improve your community? Why? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice.

In my point of view, few of us would be able to have any chance to learn a foreign language when we become elderly no matter how indeed we want to. While now, if I could manage to use a little bit spare time to do my community some practical good, I think I’ll put the first step on senior citizens’ language teaching. With the wide-accepted recognition that the knowledge is equal to power, people, no matter how old, want to do something to make them powerful. Besides, the Olympic Game is just around the corner, I’m sure senior citizens are quite willingly to show their hospitality and welcome to people around the world. However, without communication, without basic understanding, those sweet wish will hardly happen.

It’s never too old to learn, just as the saying goes, in fact, many old people now are actually get tired of all day long tea-chatting, bird-raising, TV-watching……They are bearing the hope that maybe they can do something more meaningful and interesting. Especially those who regret of wasting a handful of time when they were young or those who wasn’t satisfy with their knowledge just because they were deprived from learning due to many reasons in the past, to learn a second language is definitely an enjoyable work no matter to themselves or to other family members. As to their children, there is no doubt that they will be so gratified to notice that our senior people are so industrious that they will even ask their grandchildren for some minor pronunciation problems. Gradually, the atmospheres in those whole families become quite academic and progressive. Children will never complain like why grandparents need just sitting comfortably watching TV programmes while they have to work on those school matters. Imaging that sweet scene makes me feel extremely inspiring, so that I’d like to do my part to make this realize.

Another reason why I’ll choose to teach senior citizens English is because of my major, I am a teaching major student with the hope that one day I could be a qualified teacher, so I need some real experiences in front of a teaching desk, facing those inquisitive students, and dealing with some difficulties in real life (other than in books). With what I’ve learnt on class, I’ll try my best to combine the theory with practice, hoping the students will understand me without trouble. I know there must be a lot of difficulties teaching old people, no matter how clever they were, along with each passing day, their will became a little bit obtuse to that new knowledge. That’s the very reason why I need to be fairly patient and careful in order to make myself understood.

Undoubtedly, all the analysis leads to an unmistakable viewpoint that I’ll be an English teacher for those elders in my neighbourhood when I have some spare time. With what I will have done, the community might not have changed dramatically, but it is of no doubt that quite some people would benefit from it, so that my community will be, at lest moves along a positive way. Maybe there exist many other possibilities which would benefit my community, but for me, just do what I’m good at, what I’m confident about will be enough.

3. 093 Many students have to live with roommates while going to school or university. What are some of the important qualities of a good roommate? Use specific reasons and examples to explain why these qualities are important.

There are many qualities that make up a good roommate, but as to me, the most essential of these should be humorous, warm-hearted and independent. A good roommate must be humorous so that you can feel relax and enjoyable being with him or her, while being warm-hearted makes the roommate much more of an aid in everyday life. Finally, being independent makes it possible that you two could have some private time and space which is quite necessary, as an interesting kind guy who even doesn’t know how to tighten his shoelaces is obviously nothing but trouble.

Imaging that after a whole exhausted day, when you finally got back to your dormitory, would you prefer to hear a funny joke or to continue talking about the study ceaselessly? It is not mean that diligence is not so important compared with humor as a person’s quality. As a study partner, I’d choose an industrious one without hesitation, but this is about roommate, about living together, I’d rather pick the amusing one so that life could seems more homey and easeful. Anyway, dormitory is the place setting for us to rest which library is for study, that’s why I’d be gratified if the atmosphere in my dormitory is not that depressing and stressful. In order to make the dorm a lovely place, my roommate should have the sense of humor; so that when I feel bored, depressed or down, I’ll have someone right in my dorm that could cure me with his or her funny stories.

While being humorous is nice but not enough as a good roommate, especially when we were in trouble and need some real help but not a witty speech. A warm-hearted person would try the best to be of an aid when needed but not saying a lot nice talks while standing by. As living together, there must be some circumstances that you need help, ranging from an acute sick to using up your herbal shampoo. With the will to help, the very roommate will send you to the infirmary instantly, or give you the offer that using his or hers rosemary shampoo (if needed, he or she would even run out at once to buy you the herbal one just because you are allergic to the rosemary). How sweet and satisfied will life be when living with such a considerate person?

Besides, there is one additional quality of a good roommate that is just crucial, which is to be independent. No matter how close you two are, you are just friends and roommates, on such an aspect, no one would like to take the role as another’s babysitter. I do will have the feel that I’m important when being consulting some matters of consequence, however, as those daily trifles; I’d feel rather appreciated is not being asked one after another endlessly. And in my point of view, no one should like to be adhered by someone else, who would never do anything alone without your company or advice. If a roommate were like such, no matter how helpful or funny, life would seem to be ruined as you could do nothing privately at your own will.

In conclusion, a good roommate is not that easy to have, who have to be both humorous and warmhearted, as well as independent. But if only we could have one of this ideal type, our dorm would become a place just like paradise.

4. 095 Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.

I still remember the stirring scene when we eyed our ShenZhouV slowly lifting off, not only me, but also thousands of millions people were inspired by so. To explore the mysterious outer space is just like a dream, each step towards this goal seems crucial and eye-catching. However, in my point of view, there is still something way more important than out-space exploration, I mean governments should think for the people living in this planet first and spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. I’ll now state my reasons as follows.

Since when we born the curiosity to know the universe might be unsearchable, but since the birth of the human being, people should had sensations like hungry and angry, that’s why there are starvations and wars in this globe. After all those years’ exploitation since the globe was initially formed, the once rich Earth is no longer like what it used to be. People everyday proclaims that we should take actions to protect our world, or else our offspring would not even have any clean water to drink. All of these above from war-prevention to environmental-protection could not be handled without the governments’ support. The Earth is not such a wonder land without any troublesome problems, which means we cannot, at least now, just focus on outer space exploration.

I admit that there are some possibilities to find new source of energies, which might be more easily to obtain or more kind to environment；I also aware that we’ve already enjoy some convenience due to the exploration to outer space. Besides, my admiration to those great astronauts shouldn’t be under estimated. Even so, we have to face the reality that about the outer space, there are still so many uncertainties, each nice dreams for our future is now, nothing but hypothesis. There might be a better place in galaxy other than for us Earthmen to dwell on, but how if there isn’t? The money we spend on the fantasy work will be at last all in vain.

Why not use this money to do some thing more meaningful and more direct to the people living in this very planet who are desperately needy? Why not use this money to do some experiments about how to cure our environment effectively? Why not use this money to settle some disputes among countries? Why not use this money to educate more insightful offspring who will find their way to live on this not-so-fertile planet rather than blame us for leaving them so little resources to survive? See, there are so many things we should do but not yet well done.

To exploration the outer space is definitely a dreamy action, which I’m not and will never against. But it should be under the precondition that we all enjoy a satisfied living on the earth. Only under this condition, I can confidently declare, we’ll have a future that is much more free and enjoyable, which we deserve.
