71. Which would you choose: a high-paying job with long hours that would give you more time with family and friends or a lower-paying job with shorter hours that would give you more time with family and friends? Explain your choice, using specific reasons and details.

The Devil Who Wear Prada, which was shown at the beginning of this year, made a paramount impact on me. Just like the heroin in that movie, I was also looking forward to such LUXURY life even it have to sacrifice or betray my family, my beloved or my faith. But by the end of the story, I realized what I deemed as my values of life were totally wrong. What I have to pursue is not just money but rather a precious moment with my cherished people. Hence I would choose a lower-paying job but more time with family and friends.

Obviously, a multitude of people, as a matter of fact, could hardly reject the attraction- a job which pay $50,000 every month. And most of them do only go into raptures at the mere mention of the huge sums while leaving the sacrifice far behind. They are such workaholics that always working around the clock. However, salary and happiness can never be put on the different sides of an equal mark. A feeling of anxious or stress is easily produced among these people who paid greatly for their tense work. What is more, they even have no chance to release their tension for the reason that these busy people have set themselves up to money as a prisoner and would rather save time on every buck than tell troubles to their friends or family members, who are considered the best psychologists for them. In addition, they may afford to dissipate money on a well decorated mansion, precious jewelry, dedicated food, etc. nevertheless, it seems next to impossible for them to share these luxury with their intimates.

However, it is the other way around-a lower-paying job but more private time can bring happiness to life. To the contrary of what I mentioned before, people are not seem to get worrying during his/her work. They have enough time to confide their sorrow or pain and would quickly get the feedback- some advices based on family members or friends’ own experiences. Despite a peace and quite life they have, or more accurately, they may never think about gambling in the life on making it big in the business world, but they could follow their way and make their life easier. For example, to be with the family and friends, people become extroverted. They attend the group activity- appreciating the music which can purify their spirit, or going skiing which contribute to a personal fitness. Anyway, they enjoy what has nothing to do with money but much meaningful, namely, spiritual treasure.

All in all, if we hope not be constricted by money, if we hope not lose those who were our beloved, if we hope contain more joy in our life, we will absolutely choose the job which could allow us spend more time with family, even it is low-paid.
