Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents are the best t
eachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Education is of great importance in a person’s life.  Our first teachers are parents, from whom we learn many things directly, like how to walk or how to speak.  Then comes the age we go to school to receive official education. That does not mean teachers can replace parents’ role in our education.  In fact, in my opinion, parents are the best teachers in a person’s life because the education from parents is influential, unconditional and endless.

Parents have the privilege to spend more time with children than teachers, which allow them to pay enough attention to children.   Often when children attend school to receive education, it is hard for them to gain attention from teachers as much as they need.  Having so many students to care about, it is reasonable that teachers cannot pay special attention to each of the students.  Actually most of them only stress on good students.  However, getting enough attention from others is important in a child's development.  They need someone to turn to whenever they want.  Only parents can afford that kind of care.  In the sense of care, parents are best teachers.

Parents influence us on the most important aspects, such as what moral value to hold or which good quality to develop.  Rather than from books, these kinds of qualities are only gained through experience.  Parents play the roles of life model in this sense.  Children may not even notice that they are influenced by their parents most on these qualities---they have to grow up to fully realize that.  In the biography of many celebrities, they mention their special thanks to their life’s most important teachers---their parents, who teach them to face the challenges, to carry on their own responsibilities, to be thoughtful to others, etc.  While teachers in school teach us specific knowledge of a certain subject, parents teach us those more important values.

There is a time when a person will graduate from school, which means that the education from teacher ends.  But there will never be a time when the education from parents terminates.  Because parents have already experienced what we are going to, when confronting important decisions, many adults still ask their parents for advice.  Parents are always there willing to help us no matter how independent we have been.  In our education experience, many teachers in school come and go; only parents remain.

Regarding the peerless care, the great influence, and the long devotion of parents’ education, I would say that parents are best teachers.  We are educated through a lot of channels---we receive formal education from school, we are influenced by TV, we learn from friends and peers, but the education from parents count most.  We should know to appreciate our dear parents.
