Admittedly, automobiles have greatly changed the way of our lives in the past decades, either positively or negatively. Cars even deeply rooted in our culture, for example,(.For example,) passing the driving test and owning the first car are the steps we take to maturity and adulthood(is like a ceremony for our maturity and stepping into adulthood). However, will there be fewer cars in twenty years? I don’t think so. (Fine beginning) The pubic, especially the environmentalists, has accused the automobile of (for)the global warming, the expanding of the ozone holes, (and)the polluted air and the acid rain. Automobiles are also deemed as the culprit of a variety of health problems, such as, obesity resulting from the habit of driving to anywhere and never bothering to use our legs(to walk for exercises) .All these phenomenon(problems) may not be uncommon in developed industrial countries and together with the ever-rocketing oil prices, it(.It) is plain to see why some people claim that the use of car might decline to some extent in the foreseeable future. But speaking of the global trend in twenty years it is likely that the number of cars will experience a sharp increase(increasing). The newly emerged economic powers, namely, China and Indian, both of which have been enjoying a near two digits growth in GDP for more than a decade, will certainly in demand of a great number of cars. Though the standard of living in these two countries have improved greatly,(;) private car remains a luxury for the bulk of the people, especially the billions rural dwellers, in these countries. Obviously, the potential of the car market in these two countries have not been tapped. Study has shown that the next twenty years are likely to witness China, also known as the bicycle kingdom, turns into a car kingdom. Even in the developed countries, the probability is slim that in twenty years people will use car less than they do today. The number of people who like to live in suburb and drive to the downtown area to work is swelling(skyrocketing). With more people becoming commuters, cars are increasingly indispensable. It is said that the car industry’s future seems rather bleak due to the skyrocketing oil price and the increase in people’s awareness of the undesirable impact the exhaust fumes have on our environment. Personally, I don’t think the car industry will out of business through it have to make some changes to make cars use fuels more efficiently and more environmental friendly. The innovative ways to substitute the unrenewable fossil fuels are bound to be found, such as the solar-power cars which have already been invented.
In general, you have strong mechanics, good point of views, and well developed body paragraphs; however, it shows that you are not clear with the relationship between independent clauses and dependent clauses. You need to review how to use comma, colon, and semicolon better. Punctuation accuracy shows your writing strength. Good luck! In sum, while the cars’ future is precarious given the prohibitively high oil price and the unwelcome environmental impacts, I believe that the upgraded cars will still play a crucial role in our daily lives in twenty years. |
