Usually, most of the teachers assign homework for students almost every day, which is considered to be the best way to guarantee the students to(remove) fully understand what they learn(are taught) in class and help them review the knowledge. However, I doubt if this teaching method is as effective and necessary as it is perceived to be. Too much homework, sometimes, cannot function as an effective way to improve students’ study(studying). Teacher of every subject(Teachers from different subjects) assigns homework every day, so("so"is too informal. Use "Therefore") altogether, it will be a considerable amount of homework for a single(remove, "a" already means single) student. At times, students have to stay up late, trying(try) to finish their homework, but even if so, some students are still unable to get all the homework done(based on your assumption?). If they fail to fulfill the tasks given by their teachers, they probably will be punished by their teachers(based on your assumption? In the US, it is wrong of the teachers punish students for not doing homework), which is formidable to most students. In order not(to) be criticized by their teachers, some students may make up an excuse to their teachers, or even worse, copy other students’ homework. Therefore, excessive homework can become a heavy load to the students, which may result in cheating rather than help the students to review what they have learnt.
Here, I rephrased it for you.

It is very common of teachers from different subjects assign their students homeworks. However, excessive homework may result in counteractive effects to the students. Students who are assigned with heavy load of homeworks usually do their best to finish them. But there are sometimes indisciplined students would find other ways to finish their tasks. For instance, some students may either copy other students' homework or make an excuse for not doing homework. Therefore, instead of helping students review their lectures and practice, they may end up doing something more extreme. In addition, it is not necessary to assign homework for students every day. One day, if the teacher delivers something significant, it would be a must to give some assignments to the students, which is advantageous for the students to memorize the knowledge.(For some particular subject or session, it is necessary for teachers to assign some homework, which can benefit the students to memorize the content better) However, if there is nothing really crucial(important), it will become a waste of time and energy to finish the unnecessary homework. The occupied time and wasted energy could have been made use of to do things that are more meaningful than that kind of homework(remove), for instance, students can do exercises to relieve their pressure or develop their own interests in extracurricular activities. Although homework may have some negative effect(s) on students, what I want to illustrate is not to(we can't) deny the importance of homework. After all, it is a traditional and most frequently used teaching method adopted by teachers, and the homework, given to a proper extent, does benefit the students,(;) however, to assign(giving excessive) homework every day for students, in my opinion, is completely opposite to the
