新人求问manhattan chapter 8的题

chapter 8 verb这章里的-ing modifiers里有一道题the country's economy is unstable, the result of a stock market crashing occurring ten years ago.它解释说occurring在这表示crashing这个动作正在发生，不符合，所以不正确，我想问在这道题里the result of a stock market crashing occurring ten years ago可不可以理解为一个独立主格从句，occurring在这修饰crash，表主动？

它是一个例子，与“the country's economy is unstable,the result of a stock market crash that occured ten years ago ”比较，哪一个正确

名词短语 + 动词ing形式，形式上看确实可以作为独立主格。但是现在分词只能表达这个动作和is unstable是同时发生的，但后面ten years ago又明确表示这个动作是过去发生的，现在分词无法表达“过去发生”，所以这句不正确，应该改成定语从句。
这句话还有其他错误：
1）result of后跟名词短语，crash本身可以做名词，不用动名词形式
2）occur我觉得是wordy的，去掉亦可
另外我不知道用result来指代前面那句话是否可行（是同位语吗？），不过更清晰的表达方式肯定是使用result in、since等来表达因果关系。

这道题是判断，与“the country's economy is unstable,the result of a stock market crash that occured ten years ago ”比较，哪一个形式正确。另外，在这儿the result of a stock market crash~~，之前我的理解是做原因状语从句，相当于because of,它不是做the country's economy is unstable的原因吗？

如果是两个形式相比较，我选择“the result of a stock market crash that occured ten years ago”这个选项，原因就是之前说的，明确说明了ten years ago，是过去发生的，必须用定语从句才能体现这个时态。
这当然不是状语从句，状语从句需要一个连词作为引导词，the result是名词。as a result of 才相当于 because of。
