D中的without the benefit of the wheel
            or animal transport,

没有修饰对象的

E的修饰是可以的，但它改变了原文的成分E中把Architects and stonemasons做主语了。

而原文是同位语

without ...应该紧放在主语后面，逻辑上修饰maya,

so, A is right

我觉得ＯＧ偏向：　如果夹心，应该修饰前面的，如果逻辑意思上不是修饰前面的，那么就错．

大家觉得呢？
