Help!Columbia MathFinance VS Oxford FinEconomics

要选择学校了,本来决定去COLUMBIA了,但是听说这个PROGRAM是第二类的,不知道这个说法准确不准确,而且不知道就业如何....

大家有没有什么建议呢?谢谢

给你贴个GD论坛上一个老鸟的全球FE的心中的排名。

1- Berkeley - well-built program, not Ivy but internationnally know anyway

2- Columbia - very applied and business oriented, easy to find interviews, many seats but I think it is an advantage (many alumni)

3- NYU - same as Columbia, a bit more theoretical, but after Columbia because it is not Ivy League. Avanellada.

4/5- CMU - quality program, but university not so famous and very expensive

4/5- Chicago - theoretical programs, good quality, but university less internationally famous. Famous head.

6- Stanford - famous brand (best US university with a FE program), mediterrannean weather, but not many seats, too theoretical maybe and bad placements (I don't really agree with it)

7- Princeton, but it is two years   and not many seats. Big brand name.

8/9-Toronto, fair quality, cheap, good placement even in US

8/9-DEA el Keroui, University Paris VI - One of the finest program in the world, but not international (only London/Paris). Very cheap 300 euros maybe, after this one, maybe it is not worthwile to pay the high tuitions of a US univ

10- Umich, I dont know a lot about this one

11- Cornell

12- Columbia's MA-----就是你的那个专业。

BTW:lz应该申请得很早吧? 我临近截止报的结果被拒,估计是招满了...

summer给的是FE的排名，若是F math的排名，这个项目会移上去很多。既然准备做技术活了，那选择这个项目应该问题不大。

不过若是牛津出来能在伦敦找到不错的工作，那去英国也是相当可以的，个人认为不亚于纽约，尽管此时美国人想买伦交所。倘若回国也很好。

总之，楼主的忧虑在很多人看来确实不是个问题。either is ok.

这个FE和Fmath没什么本质上的区别的,就是quan fin,columbia好歹是ivy的,名声响啊,不过楼上的排名我严重不同意.

我的个人观点: 1 UCB 毫无争议

2.Stanford 名气很响，课程设置时间安排也比较合理．

3/4.NYU/CMU　NYU偏重数学，CMU偏重计算机，program绝对是顶尖的，placement也非常好，不比前两个差，但是缺点是学校总体名声还是稍微差一些．

5.Chicago　更加偏重理论一些，Location好，placement也好

6.Columbia FE　学校名声响，缺点是安排稍微紧了点，好象没有实习的，导致学生会难以消化．

7.Cornell　尽管是ivy但是国际名气要小一些．

8.Princeton　名气非常响，但是program非常偏重理论．．．

9/10. Umich/Columbia MF　Umich的placement好象一般，尽管我就要去那边．．．但是对未来还是有不少担心的，Columbia的MF课程太紧了，也没有实习的时间．总之两者共同的缺点就是学校对学生的就业关心不够．．．

11.Toronto

欧洲的不了解不好说，之所以把toronto排最后因为加拿大的学校到美国找工作还是困难的，但在加拿大就绝对是最好的了。这个因素和program本身无关，program本身提供的课程和实习都是很好的。

columbia的MF3月1日截止,你3月底寄也太牛了...我2月底寄的也被拒了

所以我寄出去几天人家就发拒信了,如果同时给我我还真不好说......

不过可能还是umich吧,毕竟自己还需要打基础所以1年30学分太紧了...
