hehe, they will. forget where i saw this but it was said that the adcom would sometimes have a look at your gmat writing sample to see whether the essays were written by yourself. some schools have a more rigid and strict line for twe/awa, some would not take it as a big issue. better to understand your target school's perference. ...by the way, you are correct that the scores in twe/awa are not equal to writing aptitude. but there is correlation between the two, though it is not one, not zero as well.

"A 4.0 is fine. We will judge your writing skills based on your essays as well as look at the AWA (the essays, since we can read them ourselves, are likely more important). "
