没练过写作,不知道应该怎么去想理由,也不知道是否一定要从他们的论点中选一个还是可以有自己的观点。写着写着就觉得不对劲,请大家看看我这样的思路行吗?我总觉得论据没有什么力量。
In China, most universities require students to attend classes of the course they are required to take. I believe that class-attending should be optional as long as they students can reach the required standard of the course.
First, although courses are designed to disseminate a certain aspect of knowledge and broaden students' view, the classes, the practical teaching process, depending on the individual teacher, might be very boring, thus destroying students' interest in the subject. In that case, students should be allowed to read at their will what they like in the aspect, instead of attending class.
second, class lectures are designed with all the students in mind. Therefore, the cleverer students might find the lectures too easy and even unsatisfying owing to their exceptional thirst for knowledge. The consequence might be that they want to utilise two hours of class periods to read in the library instead of sitting in the classroom listening to the professor explaining simple concepts.
Thirdly, optional calss-attending will urge professors to get more prepared for lectures. It is reasonable that students like to listen to experienced and broad-minded professors' lectures. If a lecture is thought-provoking and inspiring, more and more students will sign up for it. Otherwise, the course will gradually be discarded. That helps to improve the teaching quality of university courses.
Last but not least, many students who don't show up in class do very well in exams. The fact suggests that classes are not essential to a good command of knowledge. Many famous people succeeded by teaching themselves. So, as long as students do well in their exams, absense from class should be allowed.
It is true, however, professors tend to provide many useful materials in class. So class-attending should be highly recommended, though it is not necessarily required of all students.
