1.Ranking doesn't matter for accounting jobs. Location is the key. If the school is across the street from a big 4 firm in New York City, you know the graduates will have jobs. Albany is the capital of New York State and around 3 hours away from New York City. A lot of Albany alums are partners/directors in Big 4. All three of the schools have very very cold and long winters. Buffalo is the place few want to go. Ask the schools about the exact stats and then compare. You may want to know how many international students went to Big 4 in the US upon graduation in each of the past 3 years and how many failed to do so. If you just want to maximize your chance of getting in a big 4 and don't need too many credits for the CPA exam, you can consider going to Albany, take the MS accounting classes that will qualify you for the exam, but get the MS in Taxation degree. Tax is a specialty area where demand has eclipsed supply. 2. I graduated from U Buffalo Accounting with BS. Just a reminder that the ranking for SUNY schools really does not play a big role as other aspects, such as school relation with the hiring firms, campus location to metro cities, and of course, your own strength in the field that can help to stand out from other classmates. If you are looking for a staff level auditing position in Big 4 in NYC, Binghamton is perferred since it will only take 3 hours drive from the city, and they have lots of alumni in the firms that may help the interview/work. However, to be honesty with you, in Big4 firms hiring crews' eyes, there is no big difference in these schools. What really matters is how much your personal/professional traits can fit into their environment, and stand out from other classmates. No matter which campus you choose eventually, you need to work on your social skills, be proactive in accounting fraternity, and try to get a good internship before graduate. For Chinese students, good GPA is a given, and good communication and leadership skills are what we are lacking. Also, try to take/pass CPA exam asap, it will help a lot in the future even if you don't get Big4 offer right after graduate. Long in short, for schools ranking after top 20 - 30, ranking is not that big deal, especially for Big4. Relationship with the schools (legacy) and convenience to the hiring crew (distance) are more important. I went to Buffalo cause I like snow....just kidding, it was because it was the only school accepted me that I applied and could afford. I would go to Binghamton had they accepted me, and had I known that snow was such a big thing in Buffalo. : 原贴地址:http://forum.chasedream.com/dispbbs.asp?BoardID=76&ID=226990&replyID=&page=1 |
