我觉得 A , B ,C 都有一问题，在于 with an outer rim and....spokes...用来修饰structure了。被gmac判定为 misplaced modifier.

应该是 webs with an outer rim and....spokes...

这种区别对于non-native speaker来说，不太明显吧，我这道题也错选了C。

具体来说

A like用来举例；with... 用来修饰 structure

B webs 和is，verb agreement不对；with...用来修饰structure.

C with... 用来修饰structure

E like..do,;like被当成连词用；as essentially表达完全不知所云

这题我彻底懂了 见后面我的分析贴 原帖子不对误导

不过 这个题 D也是改变原句 意义的。

D是 bulid webs，...with...结构， 不是 build sth with sth的结构。

若像你所说，那么应该变成 build webs that are essentially wheel-like with an outer rim and a number of spokes emanating from the hub.

我觉得C错关键是因为它写的是 the argiope SPIDER，其中spider后面没有加S

如果它只写the argiope那就对了

我又看了看，你说的对, 恩brownie point!  这里的with就是个独立主格结构。我马上更正解释。谢谢提醒。
