TPO23 Independent Writing
In today’s world, it is more important to work quickly and risk making mistakes than to work slowly and make sure that everything is correct.
I consider that it is more significant for us to work quickly and risk making mistakes than to work in a slow manner for the purpose of ensuring everything is correct, which, from the perspective of psychology study, is impossible due to the limited time or information the human beings has in most cases.
Admittedly, we should work slowly and carefully to prevent some potential errors if a great deal of time is available to us. I even dare to say that, without the time limitation, everyone can achieve the goal of almost everything at what pace he/she want. However, in present day, what distinguish the impressive person and the mediocre one is whether he/she can acquire the most or at least avoid failure within the limited time. For example, under some circumstances, it is essential for us to work quickly and take the risk of making mistakes. If a walker suddenly fall down in the street where nobody but you know some skills of CPR, though you might think that you are not familiar with this technique and we have better wait for doctors who are hurrying to here form distant hospital, you have no choice but to save this person by yourself immediately. You quick action in an emergency can save a life. If you not, this person is very likely to be dead. Therefore, in such emergencies, we'd better choose to work quickly regardless of the hazard of making faults.
In addiction, we can not be informed of all the information of a particular event, not to mention guaranteeing everything is correct. For instance, in an exam, there is almost no way for us to know all the accurate answers even if we strive to recall what we learn in the class. Thus, no matter how much slow you work so as to make sure every question you answered could be correct, you might still make some mistakes. Moreover, given the limited exam duration, working slowly, you may unable to finish the examination paper, which would lead to the embarrassing situation that the score you gain eventually lower than those who answer speedily and finish the test paper with some noticeable mistakes. In such cases, where our actions are constrained by both information and time, the reasonable strategy is to work in a rapid way to accomplish the task, and take the risk of making some mistakes. As a consequence, the cost of these errors could be counteracted by the benefit obtained from what we have accomplished.
In conclusion, though it might take some risk of making mistakes, working swiftly in the current society is more critical for us. |
