The statement claims that the same courses should be required by a nation for all of its students before entering college. I fundamentally agree with the statement for it not only can help college set the courses, but also can cultivate students’ basic knowledge of his country. Thus, in my point of view, students should study the same courses before entering college.
To begin with, there is no doubt that the same national curriculum can help students set a similar knowledge hierarchy which provide a predictable foundation upon which college administrators could easily select courses for freshmen. Admittedly, the different level of study abilities and the different knowledge that students handled before are hard for college to set a suitable courses arrange for students. If college could not set suitable courses for freshmen, it would decline the college’s reputation for it could not cultivate the new generations. Thus, we can draw a clear conclusion that a nation has responsibility to require students study the same course before entering the colleges.
In addition, a nation’s culture and history are important for a student while they are growing up. So students should handle their countries’ cultures and histories, for cultures can make a student know his country better and history can help a student know the reason that his country ever been attacked then evoke his desire to construct his country. Without the same national curriculum, the students may only a few times of history and the culture in his own region which make him completely know who he are and where he comes from, and result in a limited culture knowledge. It seems that a tragedy for a student can not know his country well. From the description above, the same national curriculum required for students seems more important.
However, the importance of nation culture and region custom can not be ignored. The region custom can reflect a country’s particular culture that makes it more appealing to other countries. Thus, except requiring the same national curriculum, a nation should also suggest some region to set special courses such as region language and region culture for their students to keep the completion of the multielement of culture in a country and help students to better know his nation culture and proud of his nation. Thus, as the same national curriculum is required, the exception course for special culture could not be ignored.
To sum up, for the convenience of a college to set a suitable course arrange and the basic knowledge of his country’s history and culture, the same national curriculum should be required by nation for the students before they entering college. But at the same time, setting up the region course can not be ignored for continue a nation’s proper culture and custom!
