Some people believe that government officials must carryout the will of the people they serve. Others believe that officials shouldbase their decisions on their own judgment.
有些人认为政府官员应该遵从大众的意愿。也有人认为政府官员依靠自己的判断做决定。
Write a response in which you discuss which view moreclosely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for theposition you take. In developing and supporting your position, you shouldaddress both of the views presented.
Are government officials suggested to carryout the will of the people they serve, as some people believe, or are theygoing to make decisions on their own judgment? As far as I am concerned, a government official should follow his/herpeople's will in most cases while rely on their own decision in some specificcircumstance.
It is no doubt that government is set up torepresent its people and work of its people, and the ultimate goal ofgovernment and its officials is to benefit people and make the society prosperous. In this sense, government officials shouldtherefore carry out the will of the people they serve and every action theyhave made should base on the objectives to benefit the people in longterm. It is wise to make decisionsfollow most people's will, since the goal and purpose of government could bebetter achieved if majority of people is willingly to obey the regulations ordecisions that made by government. Inaddition, people's demands often reveal basic needs and pragmatic issues amongcitizens' lives, by following what people want can no wonder accelerate theevolvement of one society of nation, and at the same time achieve the objectiveof government.
Moreover, because of the existence ofinterests of different people, I have strong reason to believe that mostpeople, including government officials, are prone to take position for theirown advantages. Therefore, it is quietcrucial for officials to take into account the voice of most people before anydecision has been made, for the reason that officials' intellect may beaffected by their own profits and the critical decisions may be veiled bybiased interests. Government officials insuch case are not able to analysis the problem as reasonable as their citizens,and the importance of acceptance the will of most people is thusunimpeachable. Moreover, overly abusingthe power by government officials will inevitably result in corruption or evenautarchy. Take Adolf Hitler as anexample, whose dictatorial rule of Germany, which led to the deaths of hundredsof thousands in World War II, has made him among history's most hated villains.
However, government officials are notsupposed to obey the will of their people all the time, and there are severalreasons that the officials' own estimation should also be relied on. Firstly, there are so many different voicesamong people, it is hard to reach a balanced point for every individual. Another thing is that government officialshave more relevant experience and knowledge than common people and likely todraw better conclusion than others. Besides, citizens in some cases are cheated by some rumors and do nothave abilities to consider the situation justifiably. So the officials should stick to their ownconsideration rather than following the will of people in the situations above.
In sum, I partially agree with what somepeople's assertion that government officials should carry out the will ofpeople they serve. In my point of view,a competent official should consider and analysis both the ideas of citizensand the inner thought of his own before any final decision is made.
