我的选择是A，觉得connected前面应该跟一个谓语，和前面的“were built”相平行似的，不过OG没有提到平行的问题，而是说To describe the noun structures, thee participal form connected should be used, turning the web into an adj. 这里我就不明白了，那connected的主语到底是什末啊？是structure or the settlements? 而且，就算是如此，为什么不能用were connected,因为后面有个“by”啊，不能当被动式来看吗？

求解求解，谢谢个位大侠了~~

补充一个小问题吧，这道题with 前面是不是应给没有逗号的呀。
manhattan论坛和Prep上面都是没有逗号的。
PS：加了逗号之后貌似更难把握两个非限定性修饰的关系，是不是容易造成误解而错呢？

在Mforum上面这道题应该是打错了，看他题目中也没有把with划线，题目中with前面应该是有逗号，with应该是划线的。

要明白动词的归属
were built的是The Anasazi settlements
connected的是rooms，两个动词并不都归属于句子主语，所以不能平行。
如果这个时候还用were的话，句子里就会有两个谓语动词

谢谢，明白不能平行的概念了。。

起初是因为此句”connected“前面有comma，所以我就和以前做过的类似的一个主语的题目混淆了，这种两个不同主语的情况要如何区分才好？
如果说connected的是前面的noun rooms,即structures.因此主语也就是structures，那么这种情况为什么中间有个逗号隔开，感觉好像后面的半句话断开一样。。

还有一点，为甚末OG解释connected在这里作形容词？

这个地方不要理解为structures是主语什么的，这个句子的主语就是settlements，connected做定语modify名词room。
还有我记得这个题最扭曲的考点在于理解什么东西被连到了一起……OG不在手边想不起来了，当时我这个题错的是死去活来啊

As far as i know, the only acceptable usage of “ascale of” is in describing the mathematical particulars of the scale itself.

通过scale of的意思(e.g. on a scale of 1-10)直接排除C/D/E就好办了。

我觉得做这题的时候，不太容易看出author's intended meaning...
我当时看到"scale of"顺眼，直接就想的是这样的句式：
Settlements were built on a spectacular scale of xxx structures of yyy rooms, each .....
然后就纠结于C还是E....一开始的路子就错了，就跳不出来了。

现在看来，理解意思是关键
Suri同学点解的那个"a scale of xxx structures of yyy rooms"的意思
"scale of"的意思
"connected"的意思（类比united）
不能说"each connected"/"each had been connected"
They are all connected.
They are connected with each other.
