背景,美本top 50 liberal arts college. double major in Economics & Spanish. multiple exchange experiences. accounting & PE fof internships GMAT, took it in sophomore year, 740 GRE, JJ in one day, 1490. lol
申请学校:duke mms round 2, columbia mfe, mit msf round 2, cmc msf round 1, princeton msf, lse f & pe
结果:duke ad with interview, mit ad with interview, princeton rej w/o interview cmc got interview invitation last saturday, lse completed on Feb 2 (a long way to go) columbia w/o interview (so i guess that's a rej)
建议:
duke mms: package yourself as employable. at the same time, be passionate and show strong involvements in extracurricular activities.
a must: a rec letter from EMPLOYER! this helps a lot!
columbia mfe: first i took it as a safety school because i saw SO MANY chinese students in the engineering school. well, columbia didn't even offer me an interview opportunity. my suggestion would be - apply only if you really have a quantitative background and want to do quant stuff.
princeton msf: similar to columbia. i only applied due to some coaxing from a friend. but it turned out to be a bad decision (my app fee!!) my observations: they care about the brand names of your school and internships as much as your academic achievements. my liberal arts college fellows, please look at their resumes online. i remember i only saw one student from swarthmore. so i won't suggest any with lac background to apply if you are not from a top 5. i didn't ask my employer to write the rec letter for princeton, which might be the reason for no interview.
mit: similar to duke mms. maybe more focus on being employable. employer rec letter would help a lot.
cmc: a great great school. rewinding 4 years back, i applied to cmc under early decision and got rej, prolly due to my financial need. lol. i didn't ask my employer to send rec letter to them but still got the interview invitation. but haven't heard back since then. they have strong placements and generous scholarships' offerings.
