Listen to part of the discussion between two students who are in the same history architecture class.
So what do you think of that ancient Egyptian temple the Professor talked about in class today? The temple in Kanenec? Oh, pretty amazing. So grand and magnificent with all those clever sorts of features.
Woo, I'm sure. After all, the temple was built to honor the ruler and those ancient Egyptian rulers were viewed as god after their death.
Oh, I know. But like the whole avenue of ramp leading up to the temple. I mean that roadways with all those statues, sacrificial animals along both sides. All that seems perfectly designed for the grand religious procession they often had there. And that huge stone over the entrance of the temple the way of cut-away.
Yeah. That was clever. How they just cut away part of that stone, so the priests in the big procession could pass through the entrance underneath, even with all the tall banners that had been carried in or out of the temple.
Right. How about the inside of the temple, in the great hall.
You mean the columns?
Yeah.
So the columns really were amazing. I mean, like how many were there, over 100? And each one was in the image of gods and kings cut to its surface to tell stories of their great deeds.
Well, they were all pretty awesome. But I particularly meant the columns down the center of the aisle at the hall. The one that was so much taller than others, so they raised the central roof a lot higher than the roofs on either side.
Oh, yeah though. What a brilliant solution for letting nature light down in middle of the great hall. Man, some of the architects must be really creative.
